Rochester Bike Week 2010
May is National Bike Month. National Bike Week is next week, May 17–21.
Here in R-Town, that conflicts with the Lilac Festival, so the Rochester Bike Week begins next Friday, May 21 on National Bike-to-Work Day.
This, of course, is one of my days off, but for me, every workday is bike-to-work day, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
Rochester Bike Week events have been posted over on the Rochester Cycling Alliance web site.
As of this writing, I’m planning on next Friday night’s Light Up the River Ride, 9pm at Corn Hill Landing, and the Upper Monroe Bike Boulevards Ride starting at 1pm on Sunday the 23rd at Cobbs Hill Park. The ride actually follows one of my commuting routes. Come and be jealous of me.
Work gets in the way of all the evening events for me through the following week, save one, the Bike to the Future Forum, 8pm location TBD.
Come ride with me
Although it’s outside Rochester Bike Week, you’re invited to join me as I lead the Ten Parks Tour, 9am Sunday May 30 starting in Cobbs Hill Park.
The Ten Parks Tour is a signature Rochester Bicycling Club ride. This ride starts and ends at Cobbs Hill Park in the city and connects nine more east side city, county and town parks.
From the hills of Mendon Ponds Park in the south, to the beach at Durand-Eastman in the north, the route winds through city neighborhoods, suburban streets and rural roads, with an optional lunch stop at Sea Breeze, and final pass up the Genesee River gorge and through downtown Rochester.
The route can be split into southern and northern portions for a shorter ride.
Meet at Cobbs Hill Park by the pond and tennis courts (corner of Culver Rd and Norris Dr) at 8:45. We roll at 9am sharp.

Bruce, I’m planning on the 10 parks tour. Looking forward to it. Still have some work to do on the Bianchi…
