Tour de New York returns to R-Town this summer
The official announcement isn’t until next week, but the D&C reports tonight that the Tour de New York is a go this coming August.
Five days of racing begin downtown on Saturday August 7 with the Rochester Twilight Criterium, followed by Individual Time Trials on Sunday along Lake Ontario. The tour continues with three road race stages through the Finger Lakes on Monday through Wednesday.
I’ve added a link to the TdNY site in the sidebar and will update as I learn more.
UPDATE, April 10: There’s a longer piece in Saturday morning’s D&C.
UPDATE, April 13: Batavia’s Daily News Online reports on last night’s Warsaw Town Board meeting where race organizers described the road race’s Stage Three:
The race’s third stage would start at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort and make its way south. It would eventually loop back north through Canaseraga and Swain in Allegany County, before passing through Letchworth Park and ultimately ending in Warsaw. The course would be about 100 miles and would conclude with five 2.6-mile loops through the village, before finishing in front of the former The Stage entertainment venue on Main Street.
It goes on to report,
The other stages include a race in the city of Rochester; a time trial at the Port of Rochester in Charlotte; a circuit race in the Bloomfield area; and a race from Honeoye to Rochester.
