Got the job
My boss phoned me this afternoon to offer me the clerk’s postion. I accepted.
Starting after Labor Day I’ll be working all day Fridays and all day Saturdays behind the Circulation Desk. I’m going to miss pushing my cart around shelving and straightening. On the other hand, I’ll get to talk with more of the patrons. And there’s the benefits. I can sign up for health insurance, and after a while, I’ll get paid holidays. Not sure what else.
There’s a chance for more hours. Another clerk is interviewing for full-time jobs. When she gets one, current staff gets first crack at the shifts. There will be four ahead of me, but I’m sure something will trickle down.
I have two weeks to wrap up a project I’m working on, and I’ll get even more extra hours for training. And who knows what I’ll have do to at Personnel and with the union. It’s going to be busy for a while…
