I did it!

Fifty and 44/100 miles with a lunch stop in the middle. Had to do a couple of laps around the block to break 50, and they were definately cool-down laps.

This, on a new saddle which isn’t broken-in or positioned quite right, yet is still far more comfortable than the stock one.

And on a broken spoke. Damn if I know how it broke, or when. But people who know more about these things than I do said it was safe to ride on, since the other 35 looked good.

The group ride part, was one of the RBC’s Slow & Easy rides, which I’m finding are a little too slow and a little too easy for me. On the other hand, I met a lot of nice people from the club. Rode home with a nice guy who lives near here. We got to pick up the pace a bit for that. That part was much nicer, even if we were both a little tired.

The weather today is perfect too. Full sun, low humidity, light wind from the northwest, started this morning around 70, and now in the mid-afternoon, it’s still only 79.

Now I have to rest and recover for another 30 mile ride tomorrow. ‘Tude has asked me to be a ride marshall. On the S&E rides, the ride leader, in this case ‘Tude, rides in back. Marshalls ride in the front, and in the middle when there are larger groups, to lead the way and assist new riders. While I know that route intimately, I don’t know if I’ll be up to leading the way tomorrow and I’m still pretty new myself, but I’ll give it a go.
