Highlights from the weekend with CBC
“I’m sorry I couldn’t stay any longer,” said CBC.
“Yeah, but look at everything we packed into into a single weekend,” I replied.
Together we recounted everything, which, when sorted into chronological order, goes something like this:
- Had a great dinner at Veneto’s (baked snapper in a citrus vinaigrette with green beans and fried sweet potatoes)
- A long walk along Park and East Avenues (where we were spotted, and remembered by, our waitress from Veneto’s)
- Shopping
- Air show at the 1941 Historical Aircraft Group
- Pride Parade, (which passed right in front of my building this year)
- Another great dinner at Veneto’s (arugula salad [she] a nice, zesty, broccoli and white bean soup [I] followed by angel-hair Pasta Rustica
- Post-parade Pride Festival (two doors down from my place)
- Sunday morning bike rides (11.39 miles [she], 15.18 miles [I])
- Relaxing Sunday morning lounging around the apartment
- Shopping
- Pride Picnic
Along the way, last night I met a really nice (husband-grade), cute, long-haired guy, who, as I found out later from CBC, is an F2M trans. I asked him out today. He was disbelieving, then flattered, before apologizing, telling me his boyfriend wouldn’t approve. Damn.
And I added the following to the thread on the Bicycling Love Forum, titled “You know you’re a cyclist when…”:
- While you’re delighted a friend has driven 400 miles to visit for the weekend, you’re secretly upset that they didn’t bring their bike, and that you don’t own a tandem.
- You’re at an air show standing in the shade under the wing of a B-17, and you’re jealous of the guy on an MTB thinking, it’s only 45 miles on the MUP, next year, maybe I’ll ride here too.
- You’re at the annual gay pride picnic, checking out the bikes, not the guys.
Those are the highlights. I’m too tired for more right now. Details will follow.
