Sleep in the mail
Today’s mail brought a letter from the Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Laboratory at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I’d applied for a study there last winter, but was rejected because I was on meds for depression. I’ve been off the meds for about nine months now, saw their ad in the paper recently for new study subjects, and was thinking about contacting them. Instead, they contacted me!
I passed the initial screening interview on the phone today and have an appointment next week for an in-depth one. If that goes well, I get a full physical, two nights wired up in their lab, eight weeks of treatment, another two nights in the lab and up to two years of followup. And the beauty part is that they pay me!
I’m so excited by the prospect that I can’t get to sleep.
