Busiest July Weekend
Despite the remnants of Hurricane Cindy blanketing the area in thick overcast and threat of rain, it promises to be a very busy weekend.
CBC is coming in, possibly tonight, but probably not until the morning given the rain downstate, through New Jersey and PA.
We’re off to Buffalo tomorrow for their gay AA picnic, where one of our favorite people from the Saturday night dinner-after-the-meeting group is speaking. In fact, CBC wants to pattern herself after our favorite lipstick-lesbian. It helps that they have the same hair.
We may zoom back to catch the Saturday night meeting where my sponsor’s other sponsee is speaking. I think it will really be good for CBC to hear her story.
Sunday is the annual Gay Alliance picnic. CBC whooped for joy I told her that the picnic was also this weekend, since she had so much fun there last year. (How was it I never saw her? Or did I, then decide I didn’t have a chance?) Our Pride Parade is next weekend. Since CBC has been lit up for weeks since marching in the Long Island Pride Parade, I wonder if she’ll visit next weekend too.
Then there’s also the Corn Hill Arts Festival. I’ve never been, considering it’s on the other side of the river and it’s always on the same weekend as the GAGV picnic.
But, Wednesday night, one of our members, an artist, was sharing and I put two and two together, and actually came up with four. As it turns out, he and CBC went to high school together, and CBC stood up in this guy’s brother’s wedding. They both glimpsed each other across the room one night and thought, “Naw, what are the chances?”
So we may go to Corn Hill for a reunion.
Meanwhile, I’m off to the library to see if I can remember the Dewey Decimal System.
Update:
Seems my boss, who thanked me on three separate occasions for being back (seems the Children’s room was a wreck the whole time I was gone), saw me on the news Thursday. There was a camera at the top of the escaltor to the “jetway” and she saw me boarding the ferry. Too bad it was on Fox News. I feel really dirty now.
