AA Convention - Day zero
After the press and the dignitaries did their thing this morning, the ferry left 25 minutes late. The Captain apologized, then pushed the throttles to the stops. We arrived only five minutes late, which means we were crusin’ at about 60mph. Woo-hoo!
It seemed like nearly everyone onboard was headed for the convention, some having travelled from as far away as the Four-Corners region of New Mexico, just to ride the ferry to the convention. Customs, BTW, let me right through this time.
I had a little phone emergency for about three hours until I realized my phone wasn’t set for auto-roam. Then it took me several more hours to figure out the ringtone is different when roaming. I spent the afternoon wondering why people weren’t answering their phone, and why was it always the same ringtone? Dipshit.
Willie and I got our wires crossed on the dates. He thought I was coming next weekend. He was very suprised to hear my voice coming from a payphone in Toronto. There was some sort of streetcar accident on his line. I had to wait over a half-hour for a streetcar—and then it was a bus instead. And chock-full of cranky Canadians. I made it to his place only 10 minutes before he had to leave for work. Whew!
I’ll have to finish later. Got a call from my client, Louise Marie of Longhairs. Her last appointment was a no-show, so we’re going to dinner.
