Wha’?
Phone rings at 9:15. Caller ID shows a local number I don’t recognize. Since it’s also my published business number, I decide to answer. You never know. It could be money calling.
“Good morning. This is Bruce.”
“Good morning,” replies a female voice. “This is Terry. How are you today?”
“Fine, thanks. What can I do for you?”
“I just wanted to call to wish you a great day.”
Huh? Turning suspicious I asked, “Terry who?”
“Oh, just Terry, another happy traveller on the road to destiny.”
It’s difficult to get one’s mind around such a thing in an age of telemarketing. And I’m feeling particularly foggy this morning due to being awakened, at 2:00 AM, by an email notification on my phone from Sprint, announcing they have a sale on accessories for my cell phone.
Rather than looking at said accessories, I spent an angry hour checking out the offerings at Verizon and T-Mobile.
In any event, I told Terry, “Ooooo-kay. Well, you have a good day too.”
“Thanks.” Disconnect.
