Actual customer support call yesterday:
Me: “The anti-virus on the email server is set to delete all attachments with more than one dot in the filename, since that’s a common way to fool people into clicking on an infected attachment. Just change the filename and it will go through.”
Cust: “But there’s only one dot in the filename.”
Me: “The copy you sent me has four.” [document title].9.28.04.doc I read it to her, “[document title] dot nine dot twenty-eight dot oh-four dot doc.”
Cust: “No, those are points. [document title] point nine point twenty-eight point oh-four dot doc.”
