Gone fishin’
One of these years I’m gonig to get smart and on July 31, just hang a big ol’ sign on the door that says, “Gone fishin’. Back in September.”
Not that I’m a fisherman or anything, but the problems I have with mental health and August persist. I don’t know what it is that causes my head to go wacko in August, but it does and I’m getting tired of fighting it.
The details require a much longer entry than I’m capable of right now. Just go back through last six Augusts in the regular journal for a clue.
I’ve been fortunate that the two major projects I had lined up for August both had problems on the client side which have delayed them into September. On the other hand, this will create cash-flow problems starting later this month. No billing last month equals no eating this month.
All I can hope is that a past-due client that’s into me for over half a large will come up with a check soon. Otherwise, it’s the poorhouse for me and a collection agency for them.
Meanwhile, the result of this shifting work from August to September means that either the projects I already scheduled for September are going to have scheduling problems of their own or I’m going to become seriously overwhelmed.
Oh and a couple of those projects are seriously interesting.
Meanwhile, my head doesn’t sort itself out precisely by the calendar, so for the next while, I’ve gone fishin’.
