Sneak preview
One of the few perqs that come with my job are the occassional sneak preview passes. Most of them I give away because of transportation difficulty, or I don’t have an interest or I have a schedule conflict.
I really hated having to give away passes to the latest Johnny Depp film. Although it probably saved me from two hours of heavy swooning and leaving the theater with an embarassing bulge. Ahem…
Thursday night’s sneak was at The Little, a ten-minute walk away. I sawThe Terminal with Tom Hanks.
I you like Hanks and Speilberg, you’ll like The Terminal. I you don’t care for them, you probably won’t care for it. I’m ambivalent about each and rather enjoyed it. All in all, pleasant way to spend two hours and five minutes.
I went knowing absolutely nothing about the film and enjoyed figuring out what was happening and where it was going. If you want to know about it before hand, visit the web site.
The trailer is good and you don’t have to enter the rest of the site to see it. I detest Flash sites, although they do some nice work tying the film in with the web site menu. It doesn’t make me like it, but it is, original.
The rest of the site is typical fluff aggrivated by bad Flash:
- If I wanted web sites to make noise, I would wet my finger and rub it on the screen.
- If I wanted web sites to jump around, I would mount my monitors on a spring table.
- If I wanted to play find-the-links I would wear a blindfold.
But the movie’s fine.
