Sultry

Last week we were still running the heat. This week, well yesterday I toyed with the idea of purchasing an air conditioner.

On further evaluation, I decided against the purchase.

  • It’s impulsive

  • It’s not wise to increase my electric costs right now

  • The computers don’t need A/C if I turn them off during the afternoon and early evening

  • I enjoy rising early, I can get up at 5 instead of 6 to catch an extra hour of cool

  • The heat of the day provides the perfect excuse for a siesta

  • I’ve waited all winter for weather just like this

  • My discomfort is due only to being accostomed to the cold. It takes me only a few days to become accustomed to the heat.

Anyway, the days have been in the 80s. Hot, humid and sticky. The nights, cooler—in the upper 60s—but no less sticky.

I quite enjoyed the break from my desk yesterday afternoon. I read Therapy, the new Jonathan Kellerman novel, and I took a nice long nap.

I’ve been spending far too much time at the PC. On an summer schedule of rising at 5, I can still get a full day’s work in by lunchtime. Being forced to turn off the PCs then will keep me from overdoing.

This is a test comment. Much commenting weirdness has been reported. Not sure if its my fault or that of WordPress. Anyway, this is a test to see if I have it all worked out.
